This role requires a highly experienced payroll professional with strong leadership skills, expertise in multi-state payroll (including California), and hands-on experience with Paycom payroll software. We are a fast-growing company with a strong commitment to excellence, and we are looking for a Senior Manager of Payroll & HRIS to join our team and lead our payroll and systems operations. Key Duties and Responsibilities Manage payroll operations Lead and supervise the payroll team, ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing across multiple FEINs and states. Manage payroll operations for 2,500+ employees across multiple states. Oversee all aspects of payroll and commission processing, reporting, and system optimization. Maintain and update payroll records. Manage payroll operations for 2,500+ employees across multiple states, including state compliance, to include California. Configure and maintain HR systems Own the configuration, maintenance, and upgrade cycles of HR systems, ensuring minimal disruption and maximum efficiency. Collaborate with Benefits and Accounting teams to align payroll process and system configuration with benefits administration and financial reporting. Lead the rollout of new HR technologies, from requirements gathering to deployment and training. Improve processes and inspire Develop and implement payroll policies, procedures, and best practices that scale with organizational growth. Identify and drive automation opportunities to streamline payroll workflows and reduce manual effort. Serve as a key point of contact for manager and executive payroll inquiries, fostering trust and transparency. This is not an exhaustive list of responsibilities. We work collaboratively and new responsibilities may be assigned over time. Qualifications Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills & Abilities 5+ years of payroll management experience, including supervisory experience. Proven experience processing payroll for 2,500+ employees. Strong knowledge of multi-state payroll, with expertise in California payroll laws. Expertise in HRIS platforms (e.g. Paycom, Paylocity, UKG, ADP, Paycor, Workday, Dayforce) and system integrations. Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Strong understanding of payroll tax laws, compliance, and reporting. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities Education Bachelors in Human Resources, Finance, or Accounting or equivalent experience Physical requirements/Working Conditions While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day.
