ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Senior Manager, Strategy and Analytics, you will lead a team of strategy analysts to help set the vision and direction of the Sales organization. This is a critical and highly influential role within the retail operations organization that affords an analytic and strategic thinker the opportunity to shape and implement CarMax’s omni-channel digital transformation to disrupt the industry and change how consumers buy a car. That successful transformation would result in both a seamless handoff from our digital experience, as well as driving a great in-store car shopping experience regardless of how much work the customer has done online.

Examples of potential bodies of work include:

  • Sales Management Systems: What’s the role of the associate and the manager, and how should they spend their time? What are the correct performance metrics, how do we build the right data structure to calculate those metrics, and what reports should we provide to show performance? What accountability and incentive structures should we have in place to drive that performance?
  • Store Transformation: In partnership with the product organization, what are the right digital tools that our stores need to transform the customer and associate experience? How can we test the implementation of those tools to understand the benefit to CarMax?
  • Customer Service Levels: What are the right inputs that drive staffing need? How do those resulting staffing levels affect customer wait time? What should the staffing ramp up look like going into seasonally high-volume periods of the year, like tax time?

WHAT YOU WILL DO – ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Promote team engagement and associate development across the Sales Strategy team
  • Collaborate with our operations and product/technology partners on the creation of the department’s roadmap by bringing a data-backed perspective to the table
  • Provide analytical evaluation and strategic thoughtfulness to understand impacts of various change efforts to steer the organization to the best path forward
  • Drive execution through the identification of KPIs, target setting, and the creation of management systems to drive accountability
  • Present insights and recommendations to senior executives to achieve consensus for change
