WHAT WE OFFER: Competitive salary, benefits, and paid time off Smart, collaborative team members A chance to reduce the carbon footprint and work toward a cleaner energy future THE OPPORTUNITY This person will report directly to the Senior Director Business Operations and is accountable for the day-to-day management of electrical and firmware engineering, the production warehouse and production staff, overseeing and contributing to the design and building of battery testing equipment, including prototyping, customer builds, repairs, warranty, and pre-shipment testing. This position keeps a keen focus on ultra-high precision electrical engineering and optimizing production operations to meet product delivery expectations. In the role of Senior Manager, UHPC Engineering and Assembly, you will be joining a world-class team that delivers innovative solutions to tough problems. This position is fully onsite and working from our Dartmouth office location. Currently, the working hours for this role are 8:00am to 4:00pm. Please note that as our company evolves, working arrangements, locations, and hours may change to meet business needs. WHAT YOU’LL DO Engineering: Rigorous design and vetting of new and modified product designs as decided in conjunction with senior management. This includes: Project management, plus coordination with Sales, Marketing, software engineering, mechanical engineering and the Operations Manager Creation of and revision-controlled maintenance of Product BOM’s Creation of product test plans to confirm designs perform as expected Ensure timely alignment of projects based on demands, trends, and stakeholder needs Working with the Manager, UHPC Assembly to review new product revisions and analysis of prototypes, to optimize the assembly steps and use of existing BOM components Working with the Customer Success Manager to assist with customer inquiries about UHPC products Working with the electrical technicians to provide QC support for PCB inspection, test and burn-in activities and coordination with the Operations Manager to produce reports and provide feedback to suppliers as needed Manufacturing: Working with the Manager, UHPC Assembly to create weekly work schedules for the production team and ensure work progresses on time with determined shipment schedule to meet the needs of our customers Ensuring that Standard Operating Procedures, QC Records and Production Workbooks are kept up to date and improved as needed Working with the electrical technicians to support the Production weekly work schedules for PCB processing Improving production process efficiency General: Lead a team of electrical engineering, firmware engineering, electrical technician and production personnel Coach team members on safe work practices, ensuring the team complies with local health and safety regulations and the best practices in the industry Ensure that stock withdrawals by the team are properly documented on the inventory record sheets for non-inventory parts and are requested through Operations for inventory parts Fostering a departmental culture of inclusion, collaboration, safety, and comprehensive product offerings to enhance the mission of Novonix BTS Ensuring team members complete time records on a timely basis Support inventory count activities Support Operations personnel with monitoring of the Kanban system Lead by example in modelling Novonix core values system in coaching/developing and leading staff towards delivery on operational objectives Be an active member of the Safety Committee Other duties as assigned WHO YOU ARE AND WHAT YOU BRING Electrical engineering experience with high precision PCB design Proven track record of success in new and existing product delivery through establishing collaborative internal and external working relationships/project teams Demonstrated ability to display sensitivity, managing expectations and diplomacy for internal and external contacts A highly motivated self-starter who takes initiative Well organized and invested in the details Resourceful when it comes to solving problems Collaborative, working together with key parties in designing optimal solutions Able to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously An effective coach and mentor Creative To be considered for this role, candidates must have the following: 7+ years of management experience in an engineering and manufacturing environment Electrical Engineering degree and member in good standing with Engineers Nova Scotia And it would be extra awesome, if you also have: Knowledge of principles of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma Design Of Experiments experience.
