Sepragen Corporation is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer who is smart, diligent, hands-on, and detail oriented in mechanical design and implementation.
Sepragen Corporation is a small, fast-growing company that develops and manufactures world-class equipment and machines that are used by bio-pharmaceutical companies to make biological drugs and vaccines including two well-known FDA approved Covid-19 vaccines.
The successful candidate will not only be knowledgeable and experienced in the field of making high tech electromechanical or biomedical capital equipment but must also fit in within Sepragen’s high performing team culture i.e., have a great work ethic, be deadline conscious and display initiative and teamwork. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

· B.S. with 5-10 years design experience.
· High Proficiency and speed with SolidWorks/ 3D modeling software required.
· Experience should include mechanical design of mechanical, electrical, and fluid handling or pneumatic parts and seals.
· Demonstrated ability to successfully implement a project from conception to finished product.
· Experience interfacing successfully with multiple production and fabrication resources such as internal production engineers, assembly and test technicians, machinists, welders, QA personnel and external machining/welding shops, parts, materials, and equipment vendors, as necessary to meet deadlines. Innovative, practical, and timely solutions are valued. Familiarity with Design Life Cycle and ECO, revision control processes.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Excel, and SharePoint and electronic documentation system. MRP system, Electrical and or PLC/ Controls knowledge and experience is a plus.
· The job requires prolonged time sitting in front of a computer (while creating design models and drawings), and requires standing up for long time in front of machines while performing hands-on assembly and testing of the products (with commonly used tools and test equipment).
· Managing vendors will require driving to the fabricators/ vendors facilities off site to discuss, inspect and often pick up the parts while using one’s own transportation. Candidates should have the ability to lift to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

· Mechanical design of moving parts, fluid components, seals, sheet metal enclosure and plastic parts for fit, function and cost
· Validation of design via testing, creation of test protocols and documentation
· Creation of 3D models and drawings per drawing conventions, appropriate callouts for weldments and tolerances. Calculations of stacking tolerances in assemblies
· Perform design stress calculations, fluid pressure calculations per CE or ASME design standards for pressure vessel and surface finish requirements.
· Choose materials and elastomers for chemical and biological properties
· Drive timely completion of projects involving fabrication and assembly while dealing with inside machine shop, outside fabricators, welders, suppliers, and vendors
· Choose best means of fabricating parts from machining, welding, 3D printing and molding. Prepare drawings for any of the alternatives and provide programming for CNC or 3D printing.
· Create P&ID drawings, electrical panel layout drawings, write functional specifications, design qualification documents, assembly instructions, testing documents. Implement per design cycle and ECO process.
· Testing could involve seals for fluid or pneumatic pressure, optical alignments for Optical/UV detectors, mechanical motion related to pump motors, gear couplings and valve diaphragm design.
