Description
The Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation is a non-profit, volunteer-fueled organization whose mission is to cure Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis and improve the quality of life for the children and adults affected by these diseases. Our work is dramatically accelerating the research process through our varied research initiatives; we also provide extensive educational and support resources for patients and their families, medical professionals, and the public. In addition, we lead federal and state-based advocacy campaigns to support medical research funding and improve patient access to care. The Foundation’s core values of compassion, integrity, leadership, collaboration, and inclusion inspire and drive every member of our highly performing team. Position Summary:  The Senior Manager, Chapter Development & Volunteer Engagement is a dynamic, interim fundraising leadership role designed to step in during periods of staffing transition, capacity gaps, or campaign risk within foundation chapters. This position is ideal for a highly adaptable, results-driven leader who thrives in short-term, fast-paced assignments and is motivated by stabilizing operations, driving revenue, and ensuring a smooth transition before, during, and after campaign assignments. Working in close partnership with national, regional, and chapter leadership, as well as volunteers, the Senior Manager ensures the successful planning, execution, and growth of chapter fundraising campaigns and events, with a strong emphasis on special events and Take Steps walks. This role collaborates closely with a cross-functional leadership team, including Senior Vice Presidents, Regional Executive Directors, and Revenue Campaign Leadership, and serves as a key leader and primary point of contact for volunteers and supporters in assigned markets. This role requires comfort operating in a matrixed organization, managing change, and building trust quickly. Out-of-state travel may account for up to 25% of work time.  Essential Functions & Responsibilities  Management & Leadership * Rapidly assess chapter fundraising operations and develop actionable work plans to address staffing gaps, stabilize campaigns, and maintain momentum. * Develop, implement, and monitor fundraising budgets and strategic work plans for assigned markets to ensure revenue goals are met or exceeded. * Collaborate with national, regional, and chapter staff to achieve fundraising targets across all assigned revenue streams, with a primary focus on special events and Take Steps walks. * Provide interim supervision, coaching, and direction to chapter event staff, as needed, to ensure effective planning, execution, and transition of campaigns.  Fundraising * Lead or support all phases of fundraising events, including event design, logistics, revenue strategy, and execution, depending on chapter needs. * Ensure strong financial oversight, accurate reporting, and clear accountability for fundraising events, programs, and activities. * Maintain accurate and complete records and routinely review progress and performance with chapter and event leadership. * In partnership with the Associate Director and assigned National Partners, direct the cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and recognition of campaign supporters to strengthen donor relationships and drive growth.  Volunteer Engagement * Articulate and advance a compelling vision for fundraising and volunteer growth in assigned markets. * Partner with volunteer leaders to identify, recruit, and engage high-impact volunteers with the capacity to drive mission and revenue outcomes. * Build strong, trust-based relationships with volunteers and supporters while fostering a culture of accountability, ownership, and collaboration. * Support and empower volunteer committees and boards to strengthen campaign performance, leadership development, and long-term chapter sustainability. * Perform other duties as required. Qualifications:  * Bachelor’s degree preferred. * Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible fundraising and/or management experience, preferably within a voluntary health or mission-driven nonprofit organization. * Demonstrated success in event-based fundraising, walks, corporate and foundation giving, donor cultivation, and stewardship. * Proven ability to step into ambiguous or transitional environments and drive results quickly. * Self-motivated, results-oriented leader with strong organizational and prioritization skills. * Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including confident public-speaking ability to inspire and motivate volunteers and stakeholders.
