Description

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Sr. Network Migration Engineer to support a new Army contract focused on migrating Army bases from JRSS infrastructure to the Army Global Network. This fully remote role is ideal for a hands-on engineer with strong experience in network migration, orchestration, and monitoring within secure DoD environments.
Work Days and Hours: Eastern Standard Time Hours - From Tuesday through Thursday (Evening work). ASI’s (Authorized Service Interruption} can be 6PM - 6AM worst case, will be planned events)

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Active DoD Secret clearance or higher (JPAS or Scattered Castles)
  • 8570/8140 certification (e.g., Security+, CASP, CISSP)
  • Experience with network migration and orchestration in DoD environments
  • Familiarity with network monitoring, performance tuning, and SIEM (Splunk) integration
  • Willingness to work evening shifts and participate in planned ASIs
  • Ability to travel up to 10% for on-site support at Army bases
  • Automation experience with Ansible or Terraform
  • Experience with Elastic, Logstash, and Kibana (ELK) applications including data ingest, storage, processing, and visualization
  • Experience with Kubernetes and container infrastructure to run network management and monitoring applications
  • Experience with Cisco and Palo Alto networks
  • Experience with DoD STIG implementations
  • Working knowledge of Linux Systems

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Prior experience supporting Army network infrastructure
  • Familiarity with DoD network compliance standards and security protocols
  • Experience working in a 24/7 operations or mission-critical environment
Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain secure, centralized enterprise network solutions for the U.S. Army
  • Partner with stakeholders to assess legacy environments and support global WAN migration
  • Analyze network routing, configurations, and monitoring tools to support transformation
  • Develop and enhance network monitoring dashboards and data ingestion pipelines
  • Modify virtualization and containerization infrastructure for network management applications
  • Identify and implement network optimization strategies using performance data
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to ensure SIEM integration and DoD compliance
  • Document technical designs, diagrams, and procedures using wiki and diagramming tools
  • Participate in after-hours maintenance windows (Authorized Service Interruptions)
