Job Description: Senior Payroll Specialist Mascot, NSW KEY ACCOUNTABILITY Operating within the Finance Department, you will support the Payroll Supervisor in managing all aspects of the national payroll function for TJX Australia. This includes processing weekly, fortnightly, and monthly payrolls for over 5,000+ employees across retail stores, head office, and processing centre operations. As part of an evolving team, you will help deliver exceptional customer service while ensuring accuracy and timeliness of wage payments. POSITION KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Collaborate within the team to process end-to-end weekly, fortnightly, and monthly payrolls, including terminations and ad-hoc payments. Perform general payroll duties, including accurate data entry for new associates and employment changes. Partner with business stakeholders to interpret and ensure correct application of the General Retail Award, EBAs, and legislative requirements. Resolve payroll queries from associates and internal partners with a strong customer service focus. Reconcile and process PAYG withholdings, payroll tax, superannuation, and workers’ compensation. Prepare journal entries and assist with month-end reporting for Finance. Conduct periodic audits of payroll processes, records, and systems to ensure accuracy and compliance. Coordinate with internal and external auditors during payroll audits, providing documentation and explanations as required. Contribute to the design and implementation of payroll procedures and process improvements. Maintain personnel files and other sensitive, confidential information in line with company policies. KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS Accurate and punctual payment of wages Compliance with Fair Work, Award, EBA and contractual requirements Successful implementation of payroll improvements and system enhancements Prompt resolution of payroll queries with high employee satisfaction. Compliance with company policies and procedures IDEAL EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS / COMPETENCIES Proven experience in high-volume, transactional payroll environments Ability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced setting Strong understanding of payroll legislation, including awards, payroll tax, superannuation, PAYG, and workers’ compensation, with the ability to interpret and apply this knowledge. Strong knowledge of the General Retail Industry Award. Exceptional attention to detail, analytical skills, and problem-solving capability. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel for reporting, analysis, and reconciliations. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Growth mindset with adaptability and openness to feedback.
