Description

Xendat seeks a motivated and detail-oriented Ontology Analyst to join our Ontology team. This team is responsible for developing and implementing an internal, custom Ontology for a Pharma client that captures concepts and their relationships within their world of Drug Discovery. This is a cross-functional team that works directly with scientists to understand their data and views and with technical teams to investigate how to map existing databases and applications to a common language so they can communicate. This position would play a crucial role in advancing their ability to expand and enrich the ontology through ontology development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Ontology product owner to design and execute ontology development projects focused on practical drug discovery concepts.
  • Utilize your knowledge of ontology and pharmaceuticals to assess, curate, and analyze requests and ontology requirements stemming from various affiliated project teams for inclusion in the ontology.
  • Conduct interviews of SME groups to gather research to support ontology development.
  • Rapidly build functional ontology domains from project ontology requirements to directly support scientific and technical needs.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand and map terms used in existing datasets to the ontology to enable enhanced search functions.
  • Participate in routine ontology releases, which includes performing manual content Quality Control, running of logic reasoners, and internal Quality Control checks on code.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in pharma or related science field.
  • Experience with ontology principles and working with ontologies, preferably within pharma.
  • Proven experience in relevant software tools and platforms used for ontology development and research required, including Protege.
  • Ability to work independently, asynchronously, or in working groups for collaboration.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, for collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, documenting processes, and presenting research findings.
  • Experience with semantic modeling would be a plus.
  • Experience with LNP (Lipid nanoparticles) registration and assay reporting would be highly desirable.
