We are looking to hire an experienced Sr. Plant Accountant to join our team. This role is ideal for a hands-on accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced plant setting and enjoys partnering with operations to drive performance. As a key member of the Finance team, you’ll play a critical role in supporting plant operations through cost accounting, financial analysis, and operational reporting to help leadership make informed, data-driven decisions. The ideal candidate brings strong cost accounting expertise, hands-on plant experience, and the ability to balance detailed analysis with big-picture thinking. Requirements Responsibilities Financial Reporting & Analysis Assist plant and company leadership in making informed financial decisions Prepare and analyze financial statements, reports, and key performance metrics Provide weekly and monthly performance reporting vs. forecast Analyze manufacturing variances, including labor, material, and overhead Month-End Close Execute month-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and reclassifications Perform balance sheet reconciliations with a high level of accuracy Analyze expenses, inventory movements, and cost of sales Support consolidation of financial results across systems or business units Cost Accounting & Inventory Maintain and analyze standard costs, including cost rolls and updates Perform detailed cost accounting analysis related to production and inventory Monitor inventory valuation, stock transactions, and goods in transit Lead and support physical inventory processes and fixed asset counts Operations Support Partner with operations to provide financial and statistical data to improve performance Participate in plant floor activities to better understand cost drivers Support forecasting, annual planning, and rolling projections Track and quantify savings from continuous improvement initiatives Controls & Compliance Maintain strong internal controls Support external audit, including documentation and testing Ensure adherence to corporate accounting policies and procedures Continuous Improvement Participate in lean initiatives, Kaizen events, and process improvements Assist with ERP implementations or system transitions Help develop and improve accounting processes and reporting tools Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance 5–7 years of related accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing Strong background in cost accounting (required) Experience with month-end close, financial reporting, and variance analysis Proficiency in ERP systems Advanced Microsoft Excel skills Knowledge of GAAP and internal controls (SOX) Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills Ability to communicate effectively across cross-functional teams Comfortable working in both office and plant floor environments Job Type: Full-time (on-site) Employment Verification: Matrix participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with your Form I-9 information to confirm that you are authorized to work in the U.S. EOE, including disability/vets Job Type: Full-time Annual Salary: $80,000-$100,000 (depending on experience) Benefits: 401(k) 401(k) matching Dental insurance Health insurance Vision insurance Health savings account Life insurance Disability insurance Employee assistance program Paid time off Schedule: Monday to Friday (7AM - 4:30PM), onsite Ability to Relocate: Wood Dale, IL 60191: Relocate before starting work (Required) Work Location: In person The company is relocating to Bloomingdale, IL, in 2026
