Job Description Become a part of the "Bath-Built is Best-Built" tradition! Bath Iron Works is seeking a detail-oriented candidate to fill a Hull Outfit Engineering position in our Waterfront Engineering Organization. In this unique role you will support the design, construction, integration, and testing of equipment and systems on our exciting naval surface combatants. Key Responsibilities Safety: Champion and enforce BIW safety policies and procedures. Promote a culture of proactive safety awareness and accountability across the team. Ensure safe workplace conditions and compliance with government and company safety standards. Continuous Improvement: Champion BOS principles and productivity enhancements. Identify and eliminate non-value-added activities; lead implementation of process improvements. Actively seek areas for continuous improvement in cost and schedule throughout the organization. Ensure first time quality of all work accomplished. Operational Support Support of construction activities, including ship testing and system activation. Provide onsite support to mechanics to expedite resolution of emergent issues. Provide technical support to BIW’s Manufacturing teams for vendor supplied equipment such as: Helicopter Hangar Doors Boat Handling Equipment Replenishment At Sea Systems Ensure functional requirements are maintained for items such as: Damage Control Insulation Food Services Team Collaboration and Communication: Interface with customers to resolve technical issues, recommend changes, and maintain appropriate communications. Work closely with BIW’s Procurement group to come through general material requests, vendor related items, and material obsolescence/substitutions. Engage with Navy Engineering to document and present a technical position on requirements compliance issues related to design and construction. Assist Design Liaison by providing alternate solutions to issues that comply with all shipbuilder contractual requirements. Required/Preferred Education/Training A Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Marine Engineering is required. A Masters Degree is preferred. Required/Preferred Experience Sr. Engineer: 8+ years' applicable experience is required. Principal Engineer: 12+ years' applicable experience is required. Preferred CAD (CATIA or AutoCAD) skills are desirable. Required Demonstrated organizational and people skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated experience working in a time sensitive environment with multiple competing priorities. Strong leadership, self-confidence, and project management skills. Aptitude for problem solving. Demonstrated knowledge and effectiveness with Microsoft Office applications. Ability to obtain Secret Security Clearance. This position requires you to be able to obtain a government security clearance. You must be a US Citizen for consideration, and you must be able to obtain an interim security clearance within the first 45 days of hire.
