JOB DESCRIPTION

NOTE: This is a hybrid role - Candidate must reside in the Chicagoland area with the ability to work from the office as needed.

JOB SUMMARY:

This Senior Procurement Manager role is a critical individual contributor position responsible for leading the development and execution of a comprehensive global category strategy focused on distribution services. The successful candidate will help in building a best-in-class supply base, analyze market trends, and drive long-term commercial strategies that optimize cost, quality, and supply assurance. This role requires deep expertise in procurement best practices, strong negotiation skills, and a proven ability to manage complex supplier relationships within the materials and manufacturing services sector.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 5 years of progressive experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, and supplier management, with a strong focus on distribution services .
  • Proven experience in developing and executing global category strategies.
  • Strong negotiation, contract management, and supplier relationship management skills.
  • Deep understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and supply chain dynamics.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in using procurement software and tools (e.g., SAP Ariba, Coupa).

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Business/Supply Chain/Procurement or similar business discipline
  • 5+ years of procurement or supply chain experience Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required.

Responsibilities
  • Category Strategy Development & Execution: Lead the development and execution of a cohesive global category strategy for distribution services, aligning with Motorola’s overall business objectives.
  • Supplier Management: Manage overall supplier relationships, including performance monitoring, capability development, capacity planning, contract negotiation, risk mitigation, and driving continuous improvements in cost and quality.
  • Strategic Sourcing & Negotiation: Lead supplier negotiations within a framework of strategic contractual relationships, managing non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) and corporate supplier agreements.
  • Cost Optimization: Identify and implement cost savings opportunities through negotiations, event-driven activities, alternate sourcing strategies, and value engineering initiatives to achieve assigned cost reduction goals.
  • Supply Assurance: Ensure supply assurance by maintaining an appropriate Preferred Manufacturer List (PML) with the right distribution services technology capabilities and scalable business setups.
  • Market Analysis & Risk Management Monitor current market conditions to identify potential supply challenges and develop robust supply continuity plans. Proactively identify and mitigate potential risks within the supply chain.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Lead cross-functional teams to identify and drive projects that improve cost, quality, and delivery to Motorola.
  • Performance Metrics & Reporting: Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of the category strategy and supplier performance. Provide regular reporting to stakeholders.
