At CannonDesign we believe in leveraging data-driven solutions throughout our projects to improve outcomes. Our integrated BIM environment enables this process. While this role requires technology expertise, the driving need of this role is to provide a strategic understanding of how technology (both new and existing) can be best leveraged on large complex projects. This involves being part of the project from the RFP phases (recognizing any digital requirements or opportunities to advance technology), to being part of the capture and contract phase (to recognize any onerous digital requirements or capitalize on technology capabilities) through the digital planning of the design, execution and delivery phase of the project or program.

This would include working with senior project leadership, clients and key project partners to understand, develop and review contractual documentation such as E203, G201, G202 and BIM Execution Plans.
  • Working with the Design Technology team to identify best practices and standard workflows as well as new strategies and tools and defining the how they will be utilized on large programs and ensuring that they are executed on the project.
  • Based on project specific needs either adopt CannonDesign processes and protocols or develop the needed enhancements to satisfy the project requirements and lead development or training on processes.
  • Establishing and leading recurring technology related meetings such as client BIM engagement meetings, contractor BIM coordination, clash detection sessions or digitally enabled design review sessions as needed.
  • Depending on the size of the project/program, leading a team of model managers and BIM specialists to ensure that the digital delivery is cohesive and standardized across the program delivery mechanisms. This includes regular model audits and creating optimization strategies to keep our teams productive.
  • Partnering with consultants and our clients to ensure that the digital health of the models is maintained, and digital collaboration is supported as needed.
  • Responsible for identifying additional technology opportunities to be leveraged on the project, leading to better client outcomes and advancing firm expertise. The digital technology manager, in partnership with the Design Technology team, be responsible for the successful rollout of these new technologies on the project.
