POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Project Manager is responsible for leading large-scale, complex civil construction projects with a focus on structural concrete and wastewater infrastructure. This role oversees projects from preconstruction through close-out, ensuring work is completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and client satisfaction. Key responsibilities include managing all phases of project delivery, including contract administration, procurement, scheduling, cost control, and progress tracking.
The position requires extensive experience in heavy civil and concrete construction, particularly in water and wastewater treatment facilities, structural tank construction, and infrastructure rehabilitation. The Senior Project Manager provides leadership and mentorship to project managers, engineers, and superintendents, fostering a culture of accountability, communication, and continuous improvement. This role combines strategic planning with hands-on execution and plays a vital part in building strong project teams and supporting long-term growth.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 10+ years of experience managing civil construction projects.
  • Proven ability to oversee complex heavy civil projects ranging from $10M to $200M.
  • Strong leadership, mentoring, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting project engineers, superintendents, and other team members.
  • Proficient with project documentation, scheduling, cost forecasting, and field execution.
  • Familiarity with RFIs, submittals, procurement tracking, change management, and billing processes.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Intermediate computer skills, including:
  • Microsoft Outlook and Excel
  • Google Suite
  • Procore (or similar PM software), P6, Phoenix, Bluebeam, and ComputerEase

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Advanced computer proficiency.
  • OSHA 10 certification.
  • Current First Aid and AED certifications.
  • Confined space and fall protection training.
  • Project experience in one or more of the following areas:
  • Water/wastewater treatment plant construction
  • Excavation and site development
  • River or stream diversion
  • Structural concrete and tank construction
  • Infrastructure rehabilitation (bridges, dams, roads)
Responsibilities

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Project Leadership (30%)

  • Lead and oversee complex civil projects from start to finish.
  • Ensure performance in quality, schedule, and safety throughout project execution.
  • Manage all aspects of the project lifecycle including design coordination, procurement, and close-out.
  • Step in to support or troubleshoot field execution when needed.

Team Mentorship and Development (25%)

  • Support and mentor Project Managers, Engineers, and Superintendents.
  • Provide guidance during key decisions, contract review, and project planning stages.
  • Promote continuous learning and high standards among project teams.

Client and Stakeholder Management (20%)

  • Represent the organization in meetings with owners, engineers, and agencies.
  • Lead project updates and reporting for ownership and high-level stakeholders.
  • Resolve issues through collaboration and effective communication.

Execution Oversight and Documentation (20%)

  • Oversee documentation processes including RFIs, submittals, and procurement logs.
  • Monitor quality control measures, schedule adherence, and field issue resolution.
  • Manage change orders, progress billing, and cost tracking.

Administrative and Strategic Support (5%)

  • Conduct project reviews to evaluate performance and identify areas of improvement.
  • Contribute to initiatives for training, systems improvement, and leadership development.
  • Maintain accurate and timely project reports.
