Fieldpiece is a thriving team of innovators - committed to pushing boundaries and celebrating curiosity. We’ve been providing HVACR professionals with rugged, feature-rich tools like meters, manifolds, leak detectors, and more since 1990. We lead the industry in the way we think, work, collaborate, and remain laser-focused on creating products that empower HVACR professionals – today and tomorrow. If you thrive in an environment where challenges are embraced, ambiguity fuels innovation, and relationships are built on trust and transparency—this is your opportunity. Recognized as one of Southern California’s Best Places to Work (2023, 2024 & 2025), we provide a Hire-to-Retire philosophy, hybrid work schedule, and a culture of curiosity – a place where you’ll have the support to innovate boldly, grow continuously, and make a tangible impact on an industry that powers everyday life. The ideal candidate is a seasoned Quality Assurance engineer who thrives at the intersection of design, verification, and hands-on testing. You bring deep experience validating electromechanical products, are comfortable performing engineering calculations to confirm real-world performance, and enjoy building and troubleshooting test environments. You’re detail-oriented, data-driven, and collaborative—able to challenge designs constructively while partnering closely with engineering and manufacturing teams. Above all, you care deeply about product quality, regulatory compliance, and delivering reliable tools that professionals trust in the field. What You’ll Do Design Quality & Development Own quality assurance activities across all phases of product development for HVAC recovery and vacuum pumps. Ensure quality in mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and control system designs. Perform engineering calculations related to fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, and load requirements to validate pump performance. Create and maintain QA engineering documentation, specifications, and analyses, including Cpk and SPC data. Build, test, and evaluate physical prototypes to validate performance against requirements. Verification & Validation Develop and continuously improve quality methodologies, standards, and processes. Create robust verification and validation (IOVV) test plans covering performance, reliability, and safety. Design and maintain test benches and environments that simulate real-world operating conditions. Execute test cases, analyze results, identify root causes, and support design debugging. Ensure full traceability of requirements through verification results and integration into DFMEA documentation. Collaboration & Compliance Partner closely with mechanical, electrical, firmware, and manufacturing teams throughout the product lifecycle. Participate in design reviews, providing informed and actionable QA validation feedback. Support manufacturing ramp-up and help resolve quality issues during production and field use. Ensure compliance with EPA refrigerant handling guidelines, ISO 9001:2015, and U.S. and international electrical safety standards, including IECEx and ATEX. Collaborate with overseas ODM/OEM partners and participate in process and quality audits. Qualifications What You Bring Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electro-Mechanical Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred). 10+ years of progressive Quality Assurance experience in a product-based environment with hardware, firmware, and software components. Deep understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering principles; experience with pumps, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and hydraulics strongly preferred. Proven experience developing test environments, test procedures, verification plans, and failure analyses. Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001:2015, particularly in design and development. Hands-on verification and validation experience with electro-mechanical products. Proficiency with CAD and simulation tools such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Revit, or similar. Experience working with overseas ODM/OEM partners. Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills. Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across disciplines. Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver within project timelines. EPA Section 608 Technician Certification is a plus. Familiarity with refrigeration cycles and EPA regulations for refrigerant recovery and handling. At Fieldpiece, we believe great work deserves great rewards. We offer: Matching 401k up to 4% with immediate vesting. Excellent medical benefits including an HSA plan and monthly contributions. Supplemental Term Life, Employee Assistance Programs (EAD), Disability, and more. Hire to Retire philosophy that includes personal career development plans.
