Job Description:

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Provide FSQ leadership and direction through technical mastery in the areas of regulatory compliance, SPC, system capability, sanitation, and food safety risk mitigation
  • Provide functional leadership to support plant and department objectives
  • Use quality engineering principles to collect, analyze and interpret in-process and analytical data to make quality evaluations, recommend actions for improvement and assure resolution
  • Develop action plans with Operations, R&D, Engineering, and Quality and Regulatory teams to ensure product specifications, analytical procedures and sampling programs are appropriate and meet system capability and key consumer and customer requirements
  • Provide leadership as needed for initiatives, including but not limited to process improvements, process standardization, and team development
  • Build alignment and strategy with cross-functional partners; lead risk assessments and root cause analysis activities for issue resolution
  • Lead quality grid metric improvements
  • Lead FSSC program and FSSC audits and ensure FSMA compliance; sustain FSSC certification within the facility
  • Demonstrated ability to apply the tools of statistics, problem solving, and decision making.
  • Depending on background/experience, advanced sanitation/food safety leadership

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Food Science, Packaging, Material Science, or related field
  • 4+ years of relevant quality experience in food manufacturing or other related experiences
  • Strong bias for action, results, and taking initiative
  • Demonstrated leadership and ability to navigate complex organizations
  • Strong written and verbal communication to partner effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Willingness to travel (less than 10%)
  • Ability to manage projects and be comfortable with ambiguity

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Self-starter who has the ability to prioritize workload while meeting commitments
  • Strong understanding of product quality, sensory, and food safety
  • Plant Quality Engineer, manufacturing, auditing/consulting, or related experience
