Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Reservoir Engineer to join our Reservoir Characterization team, located in Denver or Houston. This role plays a pivotal part in advancing our understanding of unconventional resource plays, with a focus on executing reservoir simulation models, primarily in ResFrac, to advance our understanding of well placement, depletion strategies, and completion design. This role will utilize advanced field science data to build and calibrate models, to investigate play and well-performance drivers, and to forward model alternative development plans in search of the optimal economic development strategy.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:

  • Degree in Engineering is required
  • 8+ years of reservoir engineering experience
  • Proficiency in reservoir simulation using ResFrac is required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Experienced in the asset development of unconventional (horizontal) resource plays. Strong understanding of oil and gas economic evaluations and their appropriate application. Command of fundamental reservoir engineering disciplines including decline curve analysis (DCA), rate transient analysis (RTA), volumetrics, recoveries, fluid behavior, simple analytical history matching, and flow regime identification. Proficiency in numerical simulation tools such as ResFrac and CMG. Demonstrated aptitude for building and history matching numerical models. Understands important geological, petrophysical, geomechanical, and geochemical properties for unconventional plays. Working knowledge of different completion types, designs, and fluid systems. Proficient and strong ability to learn and apply new skills and technologies. Can easily identify limitations in data set and range in certainty of results. Willingness and desire to lead training and knowledge sharing across the organization.
SM Energy offers competitive compensation and benefits programs which include, but are not limited to, variable pay, health care coverage, retirement plan, protection coverage, time off and leave programs, training and development opportunities and a range of allowances connected to specific work situations.
