Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Safety Specialist you will report to the Sr. Manager of Health and Safety to support the implementation of and adherence to Health & Safety policy for all Brands and Corporate offices worldwide.
The ideal candidate will possess strong technical, planning, organizational and communication skills. They will be able to cultivate strong cross-functional relationships across all levels within Gap Inc, outside vendors, brokers, and insurance companies. This person will not only be a problem identifier but also a problem solver that seeks continuous improvement of occupational safety & health processes while maintaining a risk-based approach to supporting our company culture. This role is critical to ensuring a consistent approach to safety and health related matters is maintained in effort to keep our employees, customers, and visitors safe.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Assist in the development of policy and procedures in response to regulatory actions on a Federal and State plan level and improvement of existing safety policy and guidance.
  • Maintain the corporate office ergonomics program.
  • Track store safety audits and send responses to the Brands.
  • Assist with coordinating elements of the fire protection program.
  • Identify claim trends that can be targeted in effort to minimize or eliminate risk.
  • Assist with responding to regulatory notices of violation.
  • Assist in reviewing store fixtures and store layouts for safety concerns.
  • Assist with coordinating various components of the Industrial Hygiene and Noise Monitoring Programs.
  • Conduct routine occupational safety & health inspections (formal and non-formal) within assigned area of responsibility.
  • Actively contribute to special safety projects while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
