SCOPE OF POSITION

We are seeking a highly-motivated and innovative Flame Hydrolysis Process Scientist to join our team. This individual will play a critical role in advancing our understanding of flame hydrolysis process, chemical reaction kinetics, and vapor deposition processes to make glass objects. The primary focus of this position is to develop cutting-edge processes for next-generation optical products while optimizing existing processes to enhance product attributes and reduce manufacturing costs.

EXPERIENCES/EDUCATION - REQUIRED

  • PhD in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent discipline
  • Strong knowledge of combustion, chemical reaction kinetics, vapor deposition and glass sintering.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing technical challenges.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to support knowledge transfer across teams.
  • Being willing to travel to plants to understand manufacturing needs and provide technical support as necessary.

EXPERIENCES/EDUCATION - DESIRED

  • Proven ability to translate research findings into practical, scalable manufacturing solutions.
  • Glass processing experience
  • Knowledge in optical materials and properties
  • Experience working with cross disciplinary teams
Responsibilities
  • Conduct research to deepen the fundamental understanding of flame hydrolysis process, chemical reaction kinetics, vapor deposition mechanisms and glass sintering process.
  • Design and execute experiments, collect and analyze data, communicate results to key stakeholders.
  • Identify and develop innovative processes for the production of advanced optical materials and applications.
  • Optimize current manufacturing processes to improve product attributes and reduce manufacturing costs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to transfer newly developed processes and technical knowledge to development and engineering organizations.
  • Provide technical support and expertise throughout the implementation phase of new processes to ensure seamless integration into manufacturing operations.
