The US base salary range for this position is 121-210K + benefits. Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
Responsibilities:
Seeking a Biomedical Research Scientist/Engineer with expertise in micro-medical biotechnology (ophthalmic technology preferred) to serve as a Scientific Engineering Technical Advisor (SETA) to support an ARPA-H Program Manager and work in our Remote office.
Are you a passionate scientist with experience in micro-medical biotechnologies and at least 5 years of hands-on experience in industry at biotechnology companies plus at least 10 years of R&D experience? Are you ready to support the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H) in their mission to accelerate better health outcomes for everyone by supporting complex and leading-edge R&D projects designed to arrive at high-impact solutions to society’s most challenging health problems?
In this role, you will collaborate with the ARPA-H Program Manager and team to effectuate bold ARPA-H research initiatives and execute government funded research and development (R&D) programs to meet ARPA-H’s mission to accelerate better health outcomes for everyone. More detailed requirements below.

These SETA duties include but are not limited to:

  • Assist, support and provide advice to the Program Manager to further the development and progress of new and existing programs plus be able to evaluate and manage existing programs and projects.
  • Conduct thorough scientific evaluation of the current R&D landscape to identify gaps in research portfolios to address critical needs that are aligned with the ARPA-H mission.
  • Monitor and track performers progress toward established metrics.
  • Read and digest complex information and develop briefings for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Use your strong logical and critical thinking skills to critically review scientific and technical data.
  • Integrate into an existing team to support current ARPA-H efforts and operate independently and in a group environment in support of technical R&D efforts.

Qualifications:

Qualifications:

  • Minimum requirements include a BS degree in Engineering and a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA).
  • Expertise in micro medical biotechnology, with ophthalmic technology preferred.
  • Greater than 5 years of hands-on experience in industry at biotechnology companies plus at least 10 years of R&D experience, including project management.
  • Experience both in commercial biotechnology and in academia or not for profit institutions.
  • Excellent MS Excel and PowerPoint skills are required.
  • Ability to write internal programmatic reports/briefings on relevant topics in a health-related field.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills are required.
  • A high priority will be your ability to communicate with current and prospective performers and explain the expectations of performers who receive ARPA-H awards.
  • Some CONUS travel is expected (~10-20%) as needed to fully support the Program and Program Manager.

Additional Experience:

  • Previous experience with applied research and prior administrative support to Program Managers in an R&D environment is preferred.
