WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

  • Experience: 3-5 years’ work experience in food safety, quality assurance, or related areas.
  • Educational Background: Post-secondary degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Public Health Inspection, or a related discipline.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of Canadian and Provincial regulatory requirements concerning food production, labeling, and food safety.
  • Independent and Driven: A self-starter with the ability to work independently, without direct supervision, and a strong sense of ownership in your work.
  • Integrity and Reliability: Committed to always acting with integrity and accountability. A dependable individual who consistently produces high-quality work.
  • Analytical and Communication Skills: Strong analytical abilities, excellent interpersonal communication skills, and the capacity to make clear and logical recommendations.
  • Travel Requirements: must possess a valid driver’s license. Ability to travel throughout the region on a weekly basis. Occasional overnight stays at hotels are required. (Company car provided)
  • Flexibility: Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and occasional weekends as needed. Ability to adapt schedule to meet the operational needs of the business

Responsibilities

The retail Food Safety team works with various internal and external teams (Banner Operations, third party service providers, regulators, business units, supply chain, etc.) to lead the implementation and enforcement of food safety protocols across all store locations. This team ensures compliance with company policies and Canadian regulations through audits, training programs, corrective action plans, and cross-functional collaboration.
