F&G IS LOOKING TO HIRE FOR A SR. SQL DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR

Senior Database Administrator (DBA) that conducts the day-to-day database administration of SQL servers. This role demands deep technical expertise in managing SQL Server environments on-prem and in Azure as well as supporting development teams with SSIS packages, SSAS cubes, and database deployments. A proactive mindset, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to collaborate across teams are key to success.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related discipline.
  • 6+ years of experience as a SQL Server DBA, with exposure to both infrastructure and application DBA roles.
  • Solid hands-on experience with Azure SQL, SQL Server on Azure VMs, and hybrid database setups.
  • Strong skills in T-SQL, PowerShell, performance tuning, and troubleshooting complex issues.
  • Experience supporting SSIS, SSAS, and database deployments in DevOps environments.
  • Working knowledge of Control-M or similar job scheduling/automation tools.
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Quest Spotlight, RedGate.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities
  • Administer, configure, and maintain SQL Server instances across on-premises and Azure (including Azure SQL DB and SQL Server on Azure VMs).
  • Ensure high availability and disaster recovery using technologies like Always On, Log Shipping, and Replication.
  • Serve as an Application DBA by supporting database-related development workflows, including:
  • Troubleshooting and maintaining SSIS packages
  • Monitoring and optimizing SSAS cubes
  • Supporting release management, deployments, and GitHub version control processes
  • Tune SQL queries, indexes, and stored procedures for optimal performance.
  • Design and manage backup, restore, and recovery strategies in Azure and on-prem.
  • Use tools like Control-M, SQL Agent, or similar schedulers to manage and monitor automated jobs.
  • Collaborate with developers and QA teams to troubleshoot database-related issues.
  • Automate operational tasks using T-SQL and PowerShell scripts.
  • Maintain detailed documentation for systems, processes, and deployments.
  • Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation for production support.
  • Respond to database and user requests (tickets) in a timely manner and provide guidance to junior DBAs.
  • Communicate system health and performance metrics in both production and non-production environments to the leadership.
  • Conduct system maintenance activities including reviewing error logs and user-reported errors, then perform root cause analysis and develop remediation plans.
  • Create and oversee the implementation of policies, standards, procedures, and guidelines to effectively administer the database environment.
