Sr Staff Accountant Department: Leadership Employment Type: Full Time Location: Los Angeles, CA Compensation: $90,000 - $110,000 / year Description We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the accuracy of the month-end close activities and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical accounting knowledge, expertise in payroll systems, and a proven ability to meet tight deadlines while maintaining high attention to detail. Key Responsibilities General Accounting Support: Perform comprehensive account reconciliations, including bank accounts, credit card accounts, prepaid expenses, and fixed assets. Prepare, review, and post journal entries for a wide range of transactions, including intercompany allocations, revenue recognition, and expense accruals. Assist in maintaining the general ledger and ensuring the accuracy of financial data across all accounts. Collaborate with external auditors and provide supporting schedules for payroll and general ledger accounts during audits. Analyze and improve payroll and accounting processes to increase efficiency and accuracy. Stay current with accounting regulations (GAAP) and payroll tax laws to ensure compliance. Generate client invoices, including specialized billing for school districts, commercial payers, and private-pay clients. Month-End Close: Prepare and post journal entries, including payroll accruals, prepaid expenses, and other month-end adjustments. Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including prepaid expense, payroll liabilities etc. Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements and variance analysis. Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies. Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes, providing insights and variance analysis. Payroll Management: Oversee and ensure accurate processing of bi-weekly payroll in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Reconcile payroll-related general ledger accounts and resolve discrepancies. Collaborate with HR and benefits teams to ensure accurate benefit deductions and reporting. Prepare payroll-related reports, including 401(k) contributions, tax filings, and year-end W-2 reconciliations Skills, Knowledge & Expertise Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field 2-5 years of experience in accounting, with specific experience in payroll processing and month-end close. Proficiency in accounting and payroll software (ex. ADP, QuickBooks, experience with an ERP ). Advanced proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and data analysis. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
