SR. STAFF ENGINEER, SYSTEM VALIDATION

Ayar Labs is pushing the boundaries of optical interconnect technology with our revolutionary multi-wavelength sources and CMOS chiplets. We are seeking an experienced Applications Engineer to spearhead our system application efforts to mature, integrate and optimize Ayar products in order to deliver high-performance, reliable optical I/O solutions for customers. This pivotal role will drive the transition of our technology from initial release to customer deployment, guaranteeing a seamless and high-performance experience for our clients. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master’s in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field
• Hands-on experience in optical link test & validation
• Extensive knowledge of system and sub-system test equipment (BERT, DCA, OSA, etc.) and standard signal quality metrics (TDECQ, SRS, URS)
• Experience with high-speed SerDes and their system validation & optimization
• Proficiency in programming languages (Python, etc.) for test automation and data analysis
• Proven ability to analyze complex technical problems, identify root causes, and develop effective solutions
• Knowledge of optical transceiver packaging and integration challenges

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in semiconductor laser & photonic device validation
• Strong understanding of communication protocols and standards (Ethernet, PCIe, etc.)
• Strong project management and communication skills
  Salary range: $160,000 - $223,000

Lead System Validation Strategy:

• Define and implement comprehensive system-level validation methodologies that guarantee our products meet system-level product requirements. This includes developing test plans, defining success criteria, and selecting appropriate test equipment and methodologies.

Develop Test Software and Infrastructure:

• Create and maintain software scripts and test hardware stations required for efficient and comprehensive issue debug and resolutions.

Drive pre and post-silicon customer engagements:

• Develop a deep understanding of customer platforms for PCIe and Ethernet applications, and tailor Ayar’s optical IO chiplet solutions to solve key challenges and bottlenecks for diverse customer applications.

Systems Architecture Decisions:

• Develop & leverage system-level modeling tools to drive critical decisions around design trade-offs and specification adjustments, balancing performance, manufacturability, and time-to-market to ensure products are ready for customer deployment.
