The Sr. Staff Research Associate (SRA) will work closely with VIP and COE on Veteran Resilience and Recovery leadership, to use mixed methods to identify factors related to homeless-experienced Veterans’ housing outcomes and recovery; to evaluate programs and policies relevant to improving care and recovery among homeless-experienced Veterans; and to engage in quality improvement that enhances services offered by UCLA for Veterans who have experienced homelessness. In this role, the SRA, under the supervision of VIP and COE leadership and senior scientists, will independently develop research, evaluation, and quality improvement plans; execute those plans while following rules set by the UCLA and VA Institutional Review Boards and other regulatory entities; and produce high quality written reports, scientific manuscripts, and disseminate findings through presentations and scientific conferences. Experience in qualitative data collection and analyses, integration of mixed methods data, program evaluation, and scientific writing is required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years Work experience relevant to persons with social vulnerabilities (Required)
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse environment interacting frequently with faculty, staff, and research community representatives (Required)
  • Skill in working as part of a team and collaborating with colleagues (Required)
  • Experience in qualitative methods (interviewing, ethnography, content analysis, historical analysis, among others) (Required)
  • Experience working on mixed-methods projects with academics and community partners (Required)
  • Experience training and mentoring researchers (Required)
  • Proficiency using analytic software (e.g., Atlas.ti, R) (Required)
  • Experience disseminating research in public-facing and peer-reviewed venues, and communicating academic research to community partners and the public) (Required)

EDUCATION, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS & PERSONAL AFFILIATIONS

  • PhD PhD in health services, social sciences, or related field, or equivalent years of research experience (Preferred)
