Job Description

Responsibilities
  • Assist with and review tax filings and overall tax compliance, as necessary
  • Assist with responding to inquiries from federal and state tax authorities
  • Assist with registrations and compliance research in new tax jurisdictions
  • Assist with and review of internal tax workpapers and schedules
  • Prepare and review accurate asset, liability, revenue, and expense entries by compiling and analyzing account information
  • Work to develop and mentor junior tax staff so that they can grow their repertoire of professional skills and competencies
  • Deliver relevant PBC documentation to external tax preparers and manage the flow of communications with them. Ensure all supporting documentation and backup for entries or accounting decisions is maintained for compliance or internal control requirements
  • Reconcile assigned Balance Sheet accounts and maintain and balance subsidiary accounts by validating and resolving discrepancies
  • Perform flux analysis and obtain detailed understanding of transactions/activities recorded to accounts, ensuring proper accounting is being applied and providing variance explanations with business drivers
  • Collaborate with finance, accounts payable, treasury, and risk and compliance on month-end close and other critical processes
  • Document procedures and workflow in assigned areas of responsibility
  • Assist with the annual external audit, including requested materials and assigned schedules, process description and issue resolution
  • Assist in research of accounting guidance and implementation of such policies
  • Identify areas for improvement, including process or control weaknesses, communicate to management, and implement changes to enhance the control environment and mitigate risk
