UNIT/PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The Senior Technical Support Analyst will provide support for the Canada Excellence Research Chair (CERC) Laureate Program at McMaster Automotive Resource Centre (MARC) in the Faculty of Engineering.
The CERC@MARC program is one of the world’s leading academic research programs in transportation electrification and smart mobility focused on pioneering sustainable energy-efficient solutions from advanced electric motors, power electronics, energy management systems, and controls to electrified powertrains, electric vehicles, and autonomous systems.
This role bridges IT operations and engineering, supporting our research group’s computing infrastructure and helping implement, maintain, and optimize both software and hardware systems. The ideal candidate brings a solid foundation in systems programming, network design, and electrical/electronic principles — along with a desire to learn and grow within a multidisciplinary team including research engineers, staff, technologists, post-doctoral fellows, Ph.D. and Masters students, undergraduate students and other scholars.
JOB SUMMARY
The Senior Technical Support Analyst provides Level II technical support with respect to software applications and hardware. Responsible for investigating moderate and complex issues by confirming the validity of the problem and seeking for known solutions related to these more complex issues. Participates in project implementation including defining the project, monitoring progress, and assisting in planning the required sequence of activities.
