The Oxford dictionary doesn’t have a definition of “site reliability engineering”
And depending on who you ask, you’ll likely get a different answer each time.
Not here. This opportunity is with a company who has implemented SRE right – straight out the Google handbook and who are passionate about curating a mature capability.
The organisation is mid-way through a company-wide transformation, moving away from legacy monoliths and implementing microservices to scale with the massive amount of traffic through their customer-facing platforms. This is a household name in the eCommerce industry, an environment which is constantly pushing the boundaries of innovation with cloud and services meshes within a squad-based model.
The role acts as a Champion of site reliability with the organisation. With a team of 10 SREs embedded in software teams, you will be responsible for running the entire practice – from calibrating and recalibrating SLOs and SLAs, to driving best practices, to utilising error budgets for monitoring. In coming from a technical background, you’ll be able to roll up your sleeves when needed, but will be comfortable in a majority hands-off role where you can lead innovation and collaborate across disciplines.
If you’re looking for that next step towards management, or not quite ready to give up being hands-on just yet, this is an excellent opportunity to be part of a transformation at massive scale, while evolving a close knit team to make other teams better within the organisation.
