FULL TIME | PERMANENT

PPG is seeking a research engineer to join our OLED Process Development team in the PPG OLED Group based at our Shannon, Ireland facility. The S&T Research Engineer will be responsible for scaling and developing a robust process for the final purification step by physical vapor deposition on novel OLED emitters, as well as occasional support in manufacturing areas to troubleshoot issues and develop corrective actions for nonconformances.
This role will report to the Sublimation Development Leader and will work onsite at our Shannon, Ireland facility.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, material Science, or related field.
  • Minimum of 0-5 years of experience in manufacturing, preferably in a clean room environment.
  • Six Sigma Certification and/or Design of Experiments (DOE) experience is preferred.
  • Experience using statistical analysis software such as Minitab or JMP is preferred.
  • Experience with high vacuum equipment processes and knowledge in heat transfer/thermodynamics is a plus.
  • Must have the ability to interface well with employees at all levels within the organization including production operators, engineers, and management.
  • Must possess strong organizational skills, a willingness to work in a team environment, and have a strong attention to detail.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in Ireland.

Responsibilities
  • Develop initial physical vapor deposition conditions and complete manufacturing assessments of new compounds.
  • Conduct experiments for scale-up work for transferring product from development to commercial equipment.
  • Independently conduct Design of Experiments to develop optimal process conditions to achieve purity, yield, throughput, and device performance targets.
  • May need to develop the process to achieve specific customer requirements such as, density and crystal morphology.
  • Analyze and interpret analytical results to make process changes as necessary and raise issues or concerns with customers and process development chemists.
  • Coordinate customer requests for additional analytical analysis and experiments on new products.
  • Prepare items for technical transfer to production manufacturing sites.
  • Research novel tools and methods to improve process development of the sublimation process.
  • Interface with customer project managers, process development chemists, and technicians daily throughout the new product development life cycles.
