Description Stableyards Support Crew Position Description Middleton Place National Historic Landmark- Middleton Place is America’s Oldest Landscaped Gardens and home to s signer of the Declaration of Independence. Located along the Ashley River in Charleston, Middleton Place is a National Historic Landmark, historic home, research center, and historic plantation and stableyards. Position Summary- The Stableyards support crew member is responsible for the daily care and maintenance of the livestock and related facilities. This will encompass administering the daily care and well-being of the Stableyards Livestock and maintaining a safe and clean environment within the Stableyards Reports to: Stableyards Director FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Minimum Qualifications Education requirements-high school diploma or equivalent is preferred Experience requirements-previous experience is preferred-willingness to learn and adapt is essential Other required skills-communication, teamwork, willingness to take direction, time management, proactive mindset Work Environment and Physical Demands: Must be able to lift 50 lbs Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions Physical stamina to stand and walk through out shift Primary Responsibilities and Duties: Feeding, watering and maintaining a clean environment for all animals Administer medical care when needed. Know when to alert management when necessary Cleaning the Stableyards area to include the barn, paddocks, pastures, main yard, display areas and Eliza’s house Assist visitors with questions concerning the animals Assist carriage drivers and historical interpreters when needed Assist with special events at the Manager’s request
