Description Company Summary Accord Federal Services, LLC is a veteran owned government contracting firm located in Knoxville, TN. Our core area of business is facility management and maintenance of federal government properties. We have been in operation for over thirteen years and have existing contracts at locations across the country. Benefits Paid Holidays Paid Vacation Medical Dental Vision Description The Staff Accountant will work independently at a high level and will report to the Chief of Staff. Will prepare and maintain financial records to track the organization’s assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related government financial activities. Job Responsibilities · Performs general cost and financial accounting and other related duties for the organization. · Prepares monthly balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements. · Maintains the general ledger. · Codes invoices, sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, and closes the monthly books. · Reconciles bank accounts at least monthly, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks. · Reconciles cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts, and other financial accounts; manages accounts receivable collections. · Verifies and/or completes payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts. · Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit. · Files tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies. · Coordinates with software vendor to maintain accounting software systems; recommends updates to enhance the accounting software. · Manages the purchasing and invoicing system. · Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures. · Back-up for processing weekly and biweekly payrolls. · May supervise accounting staff. · Performs other related duties as assigned. Requirements Required Skills/Abilities/Experience: · Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field · Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is a plus · Proven work experience as a Government Contracting Accountant or similar role highly preferred · Proven knowledge of QuickBooks Accounting software (knowledge of Microsoft NAV software a plus) · Working experience with DCAA / DCMA a strong plus · Strong knowledge of governmental accounting principles and procedures · Proficiency with financial software and databases · Ability to work independently at a high level · Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail · Excellent knowledge of financial laws and regulations · Strong organizational and planning skills · Excellent verbal and written communication skills · Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail · Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles · Ability to correctly prepare tax reports · Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, and accounting software. Physical Requirements · Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. · Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times but infrequently.
