Job Title: Staff Accountant Job Description A dynamic Financial Services technology company is seeking a Staff Accountant to join their team for a contract assignment. The role involves supporting year-end projects and providing day-to-day accounting assistance. The Staff Accountant will analyze various accounting transactions and assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. The position requires handling complex accounting activities, such as calculating accruals and allowances, analyzing financial data for variances, and participating in audits and special projects to enhance departmental efficiency. Responsibilities Analyze complex financial reports and records. Make recommendations based on analysis and status of reserves, assets, and expenditures. Prepare and post various journal entries, ensuring accuracy. Perform variance analyses and prepare account reconciliations. Assist in the preparation of financial statements. Support month, quarter, and year-end closing activities. Assist with financial, operational, and tax audits. Document and monitor internal controls to support the auditing team. Coordinate complex accounting projects and initiatives with team members or other departments. Research and correct account discrepancies. Reconcile and balance general ledger accounts. Analyze and reconcile general ledger accounts and bank statements. Maintain the general ledger chart of accounts. Assist with the evaluation of internal controls. Post monthly, quarterly, and yearly accruals to the General Ledger. Analyze Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable for variances. Maintain files and documentation in accordance with company policy and GAAP. Assist with other projects as needed. Essential Skills 2+ years of experience as a Staff Accountant/Accountant. Familiarity with GAAP principles. ERP experience required; Netsuite preferred. Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, vlookups, hlookups, and sumif functions. Experience with month-end close, journal entries, general ledger, reconciliations, and accruals. Additional Skills & Qualifications Proficiency in financial reporting and financial statement analysis. Understanding of variance analysis and the monthly close process. Work Environment This is a hybrid role with on-site work required from Tuesday to Thursday. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Concord, California. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $43.25/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
