Job Title: Staff Accountant Job Description We are seeking a dedicated Staff Accountant to support our Sr. Staff Accountant. The role involves managing various accounting tasks, including reconciliation of account balances and bank statements, maintaining the general ledger, and ensuring accurate financial reporting through month-end close procedures. Responsibilities Support month-end and year-end close processes. Reconcile bank and general ledger accounts as assigned. Prepare special financial reports and assist in the completion of the annual audit. Ensure compliance with GAAP principles. Assist in the collection of outstanding invoices. Manage the accounts payable process, including entering ACH information, printing checks, and processing vendor payments. Prepare and review 1099 tax returns. Process daily bank fees and match transactions. Handle monthly deposits and journal entries. Perform monthly bank reconciliations. Support documentation of procedures for knowledge management. Collaborate across departments to gather necessary information. Other duties as assigned. Essential Skills Strong organizational and communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Blackbaud or similar accounting software. Experience with iMIS or similar database systems preferred. Understanding of nonprofit accounting practices. Ability to incorporate AI tools into workflow. Additional Skills & Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred, but not required. Minimum 5 years of experience in finance or related field. Work Environment This is a hybrid position with a typical work schedule from 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday. The staff accountant is generally required to be in the office on Wednesdays. However, during the initial onboarding period of approximately three weeks, more frequent in-office presence may be required to ensure a smooth transition. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Arlington Heights, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $38.00/hr.
