Staff Accountant Job Description We are seeking a dedicated Staff Accountant to manage full-cycle accounting for a government contractor. The role involves a variety of accounting responsibilities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting. This position offers excellent career growth opportunities and visibility into all aspects of accounting. Responsibilities Perform full cycle accounting for government contractors. Execute monthly journal entries and reconcile balance sheet accounts. Assist with month-end close and financial reporting. Review and process vendor invoices and manage Accounts Payable. Compile and analyze financial data. Review accounts receivable and accounts payable voucher batches for accuracy. Complete monthly general ledger review and analysis. Process annual vendor 1099 statements. Set up projects and new hires in Deltek Costpoint. Assist with the payroll process and reconcile payroll tax reports. Respond to tax notices from Federal and state government agencies. Generate monthly customer and sublease billings using the DELTEK system. Process cash receipts and work with project managers or customers to collect accounts receivable. Maintain thorough and accurate files and documentation in accordance with company policy and accounting practices. Utilize DELTEK CostPoint and CER (Cognos) reporting. Maintain contract backlog reports, funding, and running balances. Process employee expense reports and EFT payments. Reconcile monthly credit card business expenses and collect receipts. Perform other accounting/finance duties as assigned. Essential Skills Bachelor's degree in Accounting or relevant experience in government accounting. Knowledge of DELTEK Costpoint Accounting System. Familiarity with Deltek Time and Expense. Experience with COGNOS BI Reporting or similar business intelligence reporting. Proficiency in payroll processes. Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and Word. Experience with Adobe Acrobat Pro. Previous experience in government contracting. Excellent research, written, and verbal communication skills. Detail-oriented and team-oriented. Professional attitude and reliable. Additional Skills & Qualifications ERP knowledge, particularly Unanet. Experience with GovCon. Experience with AP, journal entries, and credit card reconciliations. Work Environment The staff accountant will report to the Director of Accounting and work alongside another Staff Accountant.
