Description POSITION: Staff Account REPORTS TO: Controller FLSA STATUS: Salaried, FSLA Exempt Summary of Responsibilities The Staff Account will support the financial close process and the analysis of reports related to financial statements. This role involves assisting with the analysis and reconciliation of accounts to ensure compliance with the accounting principle, corporate policies, and external audit requirements. The Staff Accountant will manage general ledger entries and collaborate with other departments to ensure financial integrity and transparency. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Conduct daily bank account reconciliations. Prepare and record journal entries by collecting and analyzing data. Generate and analyze business operation reports for management. Create regular balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements. Assist in the monthly, quarterly, and yearly closing process, including year-end 1099 process. Review and process employee expense records. Ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Perform account analysis and other analytical procedures as needed. Work with the Controller to provide support for Audit, Tax, and Treasury Management to ensure overall coordination of all financial accounting activities. Understand the financial aspects of our business model. Other duties as assigned. Requirements Required Skills and Experience To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience – Three years’ experience in a bookkeeper or staff accountant role preferred. Bachelor's degree or higher in accounting, finance, business administration, or another related field. Analytical and Reasoning Skills - Strong analytical skills and the ability to make critical decisions based on a data-supported business case. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Language Skills – Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to write letters and prepare other documents as needed. Proofreads work. Mathematical Skills - Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure for basic algebraic and geometric calculations. Computer Skills -Proficient use of Microsoft Excel and Google Suite, working knowledge of QuickBooks or similar accounting software preferred. Language Skills – Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to write letters and prepare other documents as needed. Proofreads work. Communication Skills –- Be able to effectively communicate orally and in writing. Vision – Ability to view documents, multiple screens, and read handwritten documents.
