JOB SUMMARY: The Staff Accountant plays a key role in supporting the Controller and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the company’s financial reporting. This position is responsible for core accounting functions including month-end close, reconciliations, financial analysis, and reporting. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and thrives in a fast-paced environment while contributing to continuous process improvements     DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Prepare and support monthly financial statements, including maintaining detailed supporting schedules and reconciliations * Record and post journal entries to the general ledger in accordance with accounting standards * Perform balance sheet and bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner * Conduct monthly variance analysis on income statement accounts * Support Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes as needed * Process weekly agent payroll and communicate with agents to resolve discrepancies * Assist with external audits by preparing and providing required documentation * Participate in month-end and year-end close processes * Maintain accurate and organized accounting records and documentation * Prepare recurring and ad hoc financial and performance reports for management * Collaborate with team members to identify and implement process improvements   EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS: * Bachelor’s degree in Accounting * 3–5 years of accounting experience * Strong understanding of GAAP and accrual-based accounting principles * Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel * Transportation experience is preferred but not required * McLeod ERP system experience is preferred but not required * Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills * Excellent written and verbal communication skills * Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment * Proactive and solutions-oriented mindset * Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy * Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team * Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities for process and efficiency improvements * Effective time management and prioritization skills
