What You’ll Do Manage accounts payable and employee credit card transactions Review and post daily sales, cash receipts, and donations Reconcile bank accounts and homeowner mortgage payments Assist with audits, tax prep, and month-end closings Support the finance team and CFO with special projects What We’re Looking For 5+ years of accounting experience (nonprofit/public accounting a plus) Proficiency in QuickBooks Online & Microsoft Office Strong attention to detail, organization, and independence High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s in Accounting preferred Job Duties: Accounts Payable · Processes accounts payable, including posting to the general ledger software program, preparing checks and following up with vendor issues · Maintains vendor files and monitor accounting email account · Completes vendor credit applications and sales tax exemption forms Employee Credit Card Purchases · Coordinates the collection of credit card receipts from employees · Posts credit card charges to general ledgers Sales/Cash Receipts · Reviews daily Affiliate deposits to determine chart of account and class; posts to general ledger · Obtains PayPal and Blackbaud credit card receipts reports and posts to general ledger · Posts daily ReStore sales to general ledger · Reconciles any discrepancies between the deposit reports and the bank · Sends letters for any NSFs · Maintains deposit and sales files · Posts gift in kind donations to general ledger Homeowner Mortgage/Escrow Payments · Posts payments to general ledger and mortgage software; reconciles totals daily · Maintains schedule of homeowner insurance bills; pays invoices monthly; updates insurance information as needed · Assists with preparation of year-end homeowner summaries · Maintains records for Homeowner Associations Month-End Accounting · Posts Campus Chapter activity · Prepares bank reconciliations · Maintains fixed asset schedules; posts monthly depreciation entry Year-End Audit & Tax Returns · Serves as back-up for Senior Accountant for preparation of audit schedules Other · Opens mail, prepare list of payments received, distribute invoices as appropriate · Prepares special reports as needed · Provides support for special events · Maintains files · Other duties as assigned Requirements · The position is full-time, hybrid 3 days required in the office. · The individual must be detail-oriented, analytical, organized and able to work independently EXPERIENCE · Minimum of five years of accounting experience required · Nonprofit and/or public accounting experience preferred · Qualified candidates will have demonstrated proficiency in QuickBooks Online and MS Office products (Word, Excel and Outlook) EDUCATION · Requires the equivalent of a four-year high school diploma; associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred Habitat for Humanity of Dane County values a diverse workplace and strongly encourages women, people of color, LGBTQ individuals, people with disabilities, members of ethnic minorities, foreign-born residents, and veterans to apply.
