Description The Staff Accountant is responsible for performing day-to-day accounting functions within a dynamic organizational environment, including maintaining accurate job cost records and preparing financial reports. This role works closely with project teams and accounting leadership to support budget tracking, promote financial accuracy, and contribute to the efficient operations of development projects. Responsibilities · Process and review daily accounting transactions, including accounts payable, invoicing/billing, fixed assets, account coding, and general ledger entries. · Maintain accurate financial records and support documentation in accordance with company procedures. · Prepare and complete account reconciliations, investigate variances, and resolve discrepancies promptly. · Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities to support timely financial reporting. · Follow GAAP-based practices and internal controls to ensure accuracy of financial data. · Assist with the preparation of sales, business, and property tax filings. · Follow established processes to support compliance with federal, state, and local requirements. · Partner with the Controller and accounting team to meet reporting deadlines and manage workload fluctuations. · Communicate process gaps or discrepancies and suggest improvements to strengthen accuracy and efficiency. · Utilize accounting software (e.g., Timberline/Sage) and Excel to track project costs and maintain organized financial data within a construction/development environment. · Perform other job-related duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibility None. Travel No travel is expected for this position. Work Environment This job operates in a professional office environment. This position routinely uses computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and other standard office equipment. Preferred Education, Experience, and Qualifications · Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field. · 1-3 years of relevant experience required. · GAAP-based accounting, financial reporting, and tax compliance experience required. · Strong Excel skills and familiarity with accounting software.
