PRIMARY OBJECTIVE

The Staff Accountant II supports the finance department in ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining financial records, and contributing to the overall fiscal health of the organization. This position will be responsible for performing various accounting tasks, including but not limited to, reconciliations, journal entries, financial analysis, and assisting with month-end and year-end close processes.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Strong GAAP knowledge and experience with grant accounting.
  • Proficiency in softwares such as QuickBooks, ADP, or similar platforms.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Understanding of non-profit accounting principles.
  • Familiarity with healthcare finance and reimbursement processes preferred.
  • Comfortable with working with diverse ethnic and cultural groups.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, with specific experience in non-profit/ grant accounting and/or healthcare finance.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with running payroll, entering data in the HRIS, and managing employee benefits.
  • Prepare financial reports and statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Ensure compliance with grant requirements, including tracking of grant funds, reporting, and documentation.
  • Perform monthly reconciliations of accounts, including bank accounts, receivables, and payables.
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting, working closely with department heads and management.
  • Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement
  • Collaborate with program managers and grant administrators to monitor spending and ensure alignment with grant objectives.
  • Assist with year-end audits, providing necessary documentation and support.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of financial transactions.
  • Support the Director of Finance and finance team in special projects and initiatives as needed.
