Description The Staff Accountant is a crucial role within our organization, responsible for assisting in financial record-keeping, reporting, and analysis. This position plays an essential role in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the finance team. Responsibilities: General Ledger Maintenance: Assist in maintaining the general ledger by recording financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and journal entries. Accounts Payable: Process and verify invoices, payments to vendors, and expense reports. Accounts Receivable: Monitor and follow up on accounts receivable, prepare invoices, and track customer payments. Bank Reconciliation: Reconcile bank and credit card statements to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies. Financial Reporting: Assist in preparing financial statements, reports, and budgets. Expense Management: Track and categorize expenses, ensuring compliance with company policies and budgetary guidelines. Audit Support: Prepare documents and support auditors during financial audits. Tax Compliance: Assist in preparing and filing tax returns, including sales tax and payroll tax. Financial Analysis: Perform financial analysis and variance analysis to identify trends and areas for improvement. Documentation: Maintain organized financial records, files, and documentation. Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline financial processes and improve efficiency. Ad Hoc Projects: Assist with special financial projects and assignments as requested. Requirements Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field (preferred). Previous experience in accounting or finance (entry-level candidates with relevant coursework may be considered). Knowledge of accounting principles and practices. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software. Attention to detail and strong organizational skills. Analytical mindset and problem-solving abilities. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team. Willingness to learn and adapt to changing financial regulations. Understanding of financial reporting and analysis. Knowledge of tax regulations and compliance (preferred).
