Description Department: Finance Title: Staff Accountant Overall Description: Maine Beer Company is looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Staff Accountant to join our Finance team. This role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting by managing key accounting processes, supporting month-end close, ensuring compliance reporting, and conducting operational financial analysis. The Staff Accountant will collaborate across departments, including Operations, Sales, and Leadership, to ensure financial data is timely, compliant, and actionable. This position requires strong technical accounting skills, good judgment, and the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Requirements Accounting & Financial Operations · Prepare and review journal entries and general ledger reconciliations · Support and participate in monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes. · Manage and oversee AP/AR workflows · Perform account variance analysis and investigate discrepancies. · Reconcile corporate credit cards and expense reporting systems · Maintain fixed assets records and depreciation schedules · Assist in payroll review and related accounting entries · Prepare internal financial reports and dashboards as requested · Partner with leadership to improve accounting processes and controls · Support budgeting and forecasting initiatives. Compliance & Regulatory Reporting · Prepare and submit TTB, Census, and state compliance reports · Manage brand registrations, label approvals, and licensing renewals. · Ensure compliance with brewery and warehouse regulatory requirements · Monitor reporting related to shipments and distribution activity · Assist with audit preparation and documentation requests. Operational Partnership · Collaborate with sales and operations on inventory, transfers, and expense tracking. · Support reconciliation of sales orders and invoicing workflows · Maintain documentation and internal controls supporting accounting policies. Qualifications · Bachelor degree in accounting or finance · 3-5+ years of progressive accounting experience · Strong understanding of GAAP principles · Experience with ERP/Accounting systems (QuickBooks or similar) · Advanced excel proficiency · Excellent organizational and analytical skills · Strong attention to detail and ability to set deadlines. Preferred · Manufacturing, distribution, or beverage industry experience · Experience with regulatory reporting and environments Position is full-time and based in Freeport, ME. Compensation is dependent on experience.
