OVERVIEW

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Staff Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in accounting principles and practices, with a focus on financial reporting, compliance, and analysis. This role is essential in supporting our financial operations and ensuring adherence to regulatory standards. The Staff Accountant will work closely with various departments, providing insights and guidance on financial matters.

EXPERIENCE

  • A degree in Accounting or Finance is required; CPA or equivalent certification is preferred.
  • Proven experience in corporate accounting or public accounting roles is essential.
  • Familiarity with non-profit accounting principles and governmental accounting practices is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of financial concepts including accrual accounting, double entry bookkeeping, and cash flow analysis.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for financial report writing and data analysis is necessary.
  • Experience with technical accounting issues such as securities law, wills & trusts, estate law, or private equity is advantageous.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial information effectively. Responsibilities
  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Perform general ledger accounting, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Conduct balance sheet reconciliation and ensure accuracy of accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Assist in the preparation of regulatory reporting and compliance documentation, including SOX requirements.
  • Manage tax-related tasks, including preparation and filing of tax returns.
  • Support budgeting processes and conduct financial forecasting to aid in strategic planning.
  • Analyze financial data to provide insights into cash flow management and overall financial health.
  • Mentor junior accounting staff, providing guidance on best practices in accounting procedures.
  • Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Quicken, PeopleSoft, Sage, or Xero for efficient record keeping.
  • Collaborate with external auditors during audits to ensure compliance with financial regulations.
