This person will prepare standard journal entries, accruals, and adjustments, and perform detailed reconciliations of balance sheet accounts to identify and resolve discrepancies. This position reports to Vale Group’s Accounting Manager.  This position has access to and regularly works with sensitive, highly confidential, and strategic information that requires considerable discretion, independent judgment, and tact. It also requires a professional attitude and strong interpersonal communication skills.  ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Perform reconciliations for bank accounts, accounts receivable, fixed assets, accrued liabilities, and other general ledger accounts.  * Perform tasks in the monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close processes.  * Compile and prepare journal entries. * Apply principles of accounting and use judgment and other professional skills in determining the appropriate procedures for preparing and maintaining accounting records and reports. * Research information for external parties and internal stakeholders, including but not limited to the annual tax preparation process, budgeting and forecasting, and other ad hoc requests.  * Work effectively both independently and in a collaborative team environment. * Identify opportunities for process and procedure improvements. * Participate in cross-training with peers on a variety of tasks and areas of responsibility.  * Demonstrate honesty, responsibility, integrity, and fulfillment of commitments. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.  Strong candidates display: * Proficiency with accounting software/systems. * Basic understanding of financial systems, processes, and internal controls.  * High degree of flexibility and customer service attitude.  * Demonstrated success in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment.  * Detail orientation, organization skills, and analytical approach to tasks. * Ability to communicate in a professional manner with limited supervision. * Basic knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). * MS Office experience; intermediate Excel required.  Preferred * Intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerBI). * Experience with PeopleSoft and Yardi. * Experience with data warehouses, system queries, and/or other data compilation methods. * Experience with FloQast or similar close management software tools. Education/experience/certifications * Bachelor’s degree (B.A or B.S.) in accounting from an accredited institution. * Two years of relevant accounting experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience. Compensation:  * The hourly compensation range for this role is $40.00 – 50.00.
