Overview The Staff Accountant will assist the VP, Corporate Controller with the day-to-day business activities, including financial and administrative activities. Primary responsibilities include performing monthly close activities (including month end reconciliations and performing the systematic close), balance sheet accounts reconciliation, daily cash reconciliations and weekly receivables reporting, as well as other ad hoc finance and accounting related projects. The successful candidate will have significant interaction with the Corporate Finance and Accounting Team, and the Business Team, as well as other members of management throughout the organization. Responsibilities Responsible for the monthly reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts to ensure all accounts have supporting work papers. Perform the Corporate monthly closing activities (reconciliations, systematic close, etc.). Perform assorted daily accounting functions including recording payables, cash activity and other miscellaneous transactions. Preparation of ad-hoc financial analysis as needed. Assist in refining procedures for the month-end close process, working to streamline activities while enhancing internal controls. Prepare journal entries. Assist in planning and implementation of operating procedures that will improve process efficiency and the control environment. Assist in the preparation of Weekly Accounting and Management Reports, as needed. Review/enter employee expense reports Support financial planning and analysis function. Open to travel. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. Advanced degree a plus. Extensive knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles. Ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience in accounting. Public accounting experience a plus. Outstanding team player and with good interpersonal skills. Self-starter with good verbal and written communication skills. Reliance on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Dedicated and hard working. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access. Knowledge of Sage Timberline Software a plus. Working Conditions While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; talk or hear; perform fine motor, hand and finger skills in the use of a keyboard, telephone, or writing. The employee is frequently required to stands; walk; and reach with arms and/or hands. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The employee will spend their time in an office environment with a quiet to moderate noise level. The employee will also spend time on the physical job site and/or in the construction trailer. Job site walking, climbing stairs & ladders, spending substantial amount of time outdoors and may need to travel with overnight stays if necessary to manage project needs.
