Electrical Equipment Company (EECO) is an expert in industrial automation and electric motor solutions, with the benefit of full line electrical distribution. EECO provides a combination of capabilities not typical of distributors, including onsite assessment, performance evaluation, data driven recommendations, repair options, and supply chain optimization. We are seeking a detail oriented and dependable Staff Accountant to join our Finance/Accounting Team. This role is split evenly between managing payroll and supporting core accounting functions. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while collaborating across departments.
Position Summary:
This position reports to the Controller and will be responsible for processing bi-weekly payroll as well as general accounting functions including bank reconciliations, general ledger account reconciliations, posting journal entries and otherwise assisting with month-end and year-end close processes.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associate’s or bachelor’s in accounting is preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in payroll and accounting roles.
  • Knowledge of payroll regulations and generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Experience with payroll systems (Paylocity preferred) and accounting software (P21 Preferred).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications.
  • Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.

Responsibilities

Process bi-weekly payroll for 250+ employees accurately and on time.

  • Respond to employee payroll inquiries and resolve discrepancies.
  • Prepare payroll-related reports for management and external agencies.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts and bank statements monthly.
  • Post and review journal entries for accuracy and completeness.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Support audits by providing payroll and accounting documentation.
  • Maintain accurate financial records in accordance with company policies.
  • Assist with preparation of Board materials.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
