Staff Accountant (Pembroke)
The Pembroke office of Welch LLP is looking for permanent full-time staff accountants. All levels of experience will be considered. The ideal candidates are individuals who are dynamic, have an entrepreneurial spirit, can adapt to an ever-changing environment, and have an aptitude for developing and maintaining good relationships with clients and staff. They must also be able to handle a variety of responsibilities in a professional manner.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Under the supervision of the engagement senior, the individual is responsible for all aspects of the engagement including planning and execution of the engagement
• Preparation of financial statements and related working paper files (audits, reviews, compilations) in CaseWare
• Summarize client information on accounting packages or spreadsheets
• Prepare personal and corporate tax returns

Qualifications:

• Currently has or is working towards a business diploma or degree and is interested in pursuing a career in accounting
• Strong communication skills: ability to listen to others, ask questions, and express points of view
• Ability to develop and maintain good relationships with clients and co-workers
• An ability to learn new computer software
• Initiative, willingness, and ability to accept responsibility
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Possess decisiveness, good judgment and common sense
• Ability to recognize and analyze problems, propose sound alternatives and conclusions
