If you love great cheese, great people, and meaningful work, you’ll feel right at home here. About the Role The Staff Accountant is a key member of our Finance team. We’re seeking an experienced, parttime accounting professional to support day-to-day accounting operations and monthly close activities. This role is designed for an accountant who can step in and own a meaningful slice of the accounting function with minimal ramp up. You’ll partner closely with the Director of Finance, who will set priorities and review key outputs, while you execute routine accounting work accurately and on schedule. This position is best suited for someone who prefers a consistent parttime schedule, enjoys producing high-quality work, and values reliability, consistency, and clarity of expectations. What You’ll Do • Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, allocations, and payroll • Support the monthly closing process, including schedules, reconciliations, and checklists • Perform monthly bank reconciliations and follow up on discrepancies • Assist in maintaining fixed asset and depreciation schedules • Assist with AP/AR oversight tasks where needed • Ensure accurate supporting documentation and adherence to internal controls • Support quarterly and annual requests for audits and tax preparation • Maintain knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and internal PRFC procedures • Perform other related duties as assigned, including Workers’ Comp audits, grant reporting and claims, certification renewals, and 1099 forms • Other duties as assigned Schedule Part time, 3 days/week. Flexible schedule options include Monday–Wednesday or Tuesday–Thursday, depending on business needs. Occasional travel between PRFC locations may be required. What We Offer • Flexible Schedule • A supportive, collaborative, cheese loving team culture What We’re Looking For • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience in manufacturing or public accounting • Strong understanding of GAAP fundamentals and month-end close activities • Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize deadlines, and follow through with minimal oversight • Advanced proficiency with Excel (lookups, pivot tables, and work with large data sets) • Experience with accounting software and ERP systems. Experience with Microsoft Dynamics preferred. • Excellent internal and external Customer Service Skills • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Physical Requirements Ability to talk and hear regularly; frequent standing, bending, walking, and reaching; ability to lift up to 25 lbs in a typical office environment.
