We are currently seeking a Staff Accountant with a CPA designation with public practice experience to join our growing team. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • CPA designation with experience in Canadian public practice.
  • Strong working knowledge of accounting principles and Canadian tax fundamentals.
  • Ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proven ability to manage client relationships independently with a service-oriented approach.
  • Excellent attention to detail, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, with working knowledge of Caseware, Taxprep, QuickBooks (Online and Desktop), and Sage.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and complete working paper files for compilation engagements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with firm and professional standards.
  • Prepare personal, corporate and trust tax returns for review, including identifying planning opportunities.
  • Assist in managing multiple client engagements concurrently while meeting deadlines and budgets.
  • Liaise directly with clients, offering advisory support and building long-term relationships.
  • Prepare and review GST/HST and PST returns, as well as T4s, T5s, and other information slips.
  • Correspond with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) on behalf of clients regarding audits, notices, and general tax matters.
  • Contribute to a collaborative team environment and provide guidance to junior team members as needed.
