JOB DESCRIPTION

Please note this is a CPA pre-approved position, offering a structured path to obtaining your CPA designation, including exposure to competencies across all technical areas.
We are a public accounting firm seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for a CPA candidate (or those eligible for CPA PEP enrollment) who has at least 2 years of public practice or full-cycle accounting experience and is passionate about building a long-term career in public accounting.

COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

  • Minimum 2 years of accounting experience in a public practice setting or at least 2 years of full-cycle accounting experience required.
  • Currently enrolled in the CPA PEP program or eligible to register.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, decision making and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional time management skills and ability to handle multiple tasks.
  • Technically proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & Outlook).
  • Knowledge of CaseWare, TaxPrep, and cloud accounting platforms such as Xero or QuickBooks Online preferred.
  • Remuneration is commensurate with experience and technical skills.

Responsibilities
  • Preparation of working papers and financial statements for audit, review and compilation engagements for public and private entities across a variety of industries.
  • Preparation of corporate income tax returns, personal tax returns, trust returns.
  • Preparation of other regulatory returns or compliance filings.
  • Communication with Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) on behalf of clients.
  • Interaction with clients in a professional manner.
  • Ensuring work is completed accurately and on a timely basis.
