GENERAL SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for maintaining general ledger accounts through the application of Generally
Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) in order to provide timely and accurate analysis and reporting of financial information and also ensures compliance with statutory filings.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Proficient in computer software programs such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Proficient with company’s ERP software
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing with all levels of employees
  • Detail Oriented
  • Knowledge of basic bookkeeping and accounting practices
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work effectively in a teamoriented environment

EDUCATION, LICENSES AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required
  • Minimum 3 years in accounting role
Responsibilities

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare internal and external financial statements and reports by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger and from other internal departments within the prescribed deadlines.
  • Analyze and verify financial information and develop spreadsheet reports to document the analysis and findings.
  • Prepare monthly general ledger entries and account reconciliations as part of monthly closing process.
  • Maintain detailed records and files in an organized manner.
  • Analyze current accounting procedures and recommend changes.
  • Answer accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
  • Protect organization’s value by keeping information confidential.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and/or participating in professional organizations.
  • Maintain Fixed Asset Data Base.
  • Prepare and file nonincome tax returns with the statutory deadlines, including but not limited to sales and use tax and business personal property tax.
  • Ensure compliance with annual State Filings.
  • Performs other ad hoc accountingrelated tasks as may be assigned by supervisor.
