We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in New York, New York. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in managing financial processes and ensuring the organization’s accounting functions are executed with precision. • Oversee accounts receivable processes, including invoicing and payment tracking.
• Perform detailed financial analysis and account reconciliations to ensure accuracy.
• Prepare journal entries and maintain the general ledger with meticulous attention to detail.
• Manage month-end closing procedures to ensure timely reporting.
• Assist in the preparation of financial statements and related documentation.
• Support audit processes by preparing work papers and providing necessary information.
• Contribute to the preparation of tax filings, including 990 forms.
• Collaborate with the Controller on advanced accounting tasks as you progress in the role.
• Ensure compliance with non-profit accounting standards and regulations.
• Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience, preferably in a non-profit environment.
• Proficiency in managing accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
• Strong understanding of bank reconciliations and general ledger maintenance.
• Experience with journal entries and month-end closing procedures.
• Familiarity with non-profit accounting principles and tax filings, including 990 forms.
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively within a team.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
